While integration testing of my controller, I am not able to verify the response from a MockMvc post request. Below are my controller, service and test classes.

I want to get Student object from the test and then compare it with my desired object. But I am not getting any body in the MockHttpServletResponse.

Mockito uses equals to find out if a call matches. That means studentService.addStudent(student) will only return a student, if the passed student is equal to the student the mock was set up with, so the student that is used in this line Mockito.when(studentService.addStudent(student)).thenReturn(student);.
But these two students, the one in the test and the one that is passed in the actual implementation, are different instances. They are different instances because the student from the test is serialized into JSON and then deserialized into a new instance when the controller is called.
Since the Student class does not have an equals method, equals of Object is called, that only returns true if an instance is compared to itself.
If you add equals and hashCode to your Student class it should work.
