How to append text to a cell instead of overwriting it with keyboard in Excel

I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut in Excel that allows one to append content to a cell when one starts typing instead of the default behaviour which overwrites all content.

The keyboard shortcut should provide the same functionality as double left-clicking with the mouse on the cell.

You can edit a cell by selecting it and pressing F2.
