Where to put code for creating namedQuery in Facade pattern?


I'm using GWT, Oracle db, Glassfish server, JPA for my application. No problems on client-side. Also using Facade pattern in server-side.

So I didn't have any problem creating or finding all records from db.

But now I need to select groups which have the same Test_id. I created @NamedQuery(name = "Grous.findByTestId"... and now I'm a little bit lost.

So my question is: How do I use that NamedQuery? Where do I make a method that accesses db. I need to access that method from ServiceImpl. What would be the right way to do this?

EDITED: One more question. When and why I should use CriteriaBuilder instead of what you suggested? Example:

Solution

  • I don't know exactly how you project works and how you did your code, but basically I think the following sample contains everything you need to do it.

    public List<Groups> getCategoriesByTestId(Test test){
       return em().createNamedQuery("Grous.findByTestId", Groups .class).setParameter("TestId", test.getId()).getResultList();
    }
    

    And your method should be called in any service you use (which seems to be ServiceImpl in your code), and implements your method in a DAO which handles all database accesses with jpa (which seems to be GroupsFacade in your code). Don't forget to declared your method prototype in GroupsFacadeLocal. If I understand well your code I think that's it.
