As you can see in the last line, to compile the project, the "main" application needs to be started. When the main application starts, logback is also starting.
We have a configuration file, which has environment variables, as follows (using a loki appender as an example, but this question is for logback in general)

I tried to disable logback at compilaiton time. But no luck.
Removing the dependency to logback would solve the problem at compilation time, but at runtime, we lose logs entirely, which is not possible.
How to disable logback at compile time?
Easiest way would be conditional logback appender below you can see the logback.xml, if lokiHost defined in the env variables LOKI appender will be activated otherwise it will not work, only console output
