How can I get GitHub to populate the Author column in issues?

Why does it not populate the authors column for GitHub issues?

There's no way to do this. The author is shown below the title aligned to the left. These are rather filters and not headers, as for example below the sort drop down the number of issue comments is shown. And with long issue titles the title takes up the area of the supposed columns Author, Label and Projects.
