How to fill the beginning of an audio track?

How to fill the beginning of an audio track?

I have a video file (.mp4) which contains 3 minutes content.

stream 0:0 [Video] H.264 Duration : 3 min 0 s
stream 0:1 [Audio] EC-3 Duration : 2 min 46 s
stream 0:2 [Audio] AAC Duration : 2 min 59 s
  • It can be played perfectly by using PotPlayer.
  • Audio 1 is the dubbed version, it skipped the beginning.
  • Audio 2 is the original track.

However, if I convert it into a TS file through FFmpeg and play it by PotPlayer, something strange happened:

  • Switch to Audio 1, it automatically skip to 13 seconds and play
  • Switch to Audio 2, it perfectly work as I wish

The log of converting to TS file with FFmpeg:

I've looked around and apparently I've got the choice between these libraries/ solutions:

  1. Using concat in Filter_complex, concatenate a 13-second mute fragment in front of Audio 1. Results: I couldn't precisely control the length of the mute clip, the picture was out of sync with the sound, and the lag was obvious when it was playing, that doesn't seem like a good idea.

  2. Using amix in Filter_complex, create a silent segment, delay Audio1 and mix them. Results: Its properties look fine, but it seems like that the parameter of "adelay" makes no effect on Audio1.
    I use the command:

    ffmpeg
    -f lavfi -i anullsrc
    -i "file_in.mp4"
    -filter_complex "[1:1]adelay=13s|13s[short];[0:0][short]amix[aout]"
    -map 1:0 -c:v copy
    -map "[aout]" -map 1:2 -c:a aac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -b:a 128k
    -shortest -f mpegts "file_out.ts"

So, how should I fill the beginning of the track correctly?

Solution

  • Just need to pad that audio track from beginning till its start. You can use aresample filter for that.

    ffmpeg
    -i "file_in.mp4"
    -filter:a:0 "aresample=48000:ocl=stereo:async=3072:first_pts=0"
    -map 0 -c copy -c:a:0 aac -b:a 128k -f mpegts "file_out.ts"
