Show datatables with monthly listed items
Let's say I have a datatable with N items.
By default, datatables loads X elements (25, 50 or 100)
I would like that by default, only the entries of the current month are loaded (for example now we would only see the entries of November)
Similarly, with two buttons, load the entries of the previous or next month.
I found this, but a time range has to be specified manually by the user.
Would it be possible to achieve something like this without the user having to enter a date range? that is, simply by clicking on next or previous to change the month.
Solution
Here is an approach which shows one way to combine the various elements needed for your question:
- A simple control for the year/month display and navigation:

This could be replaced by more-or-less anything you prefer. It's just a basic demo.
- Some logic to manipulate the "previous" and "next" values for the year/month display.
I use the Luxon library for this, included as a page resource:

I also add functions to increment and decrement the selected date by one month; and to format the display of the date (see below).
- For the filtering logic, I base my approach on the example you linked to in your question.
I cheated a bit, by basing the filtering logic on string comparisons. So, I take the date string as shown in the DataTable, and chop off the day-of-month portion to give a year/month string.
This simplifies the filtering logic. But you can use date objects if you prefer.
