Using Spring Boot and AOP I'm trying to use an annotation to intercept certain service methods.

the strange thing is that it is complaining about MetricsAutoConfiguration... not sure why this is coming up... can anyone help?
The error message formal unbound in pointcut
tells you that a formal parameter used in your pointcut does not have a corresponding parameter in the advice method or vice versa, see also my answer here.
The AspectJ manual says:
If formal are bound (using
args()
,target()
,this()
,@args()
,@target()
,@this()
,@annotation()
) in the pointcut, then they must appear in the method signature.
Then in general you need to know that when using a bound parameter, you need to refer to it from the pointcut by its name, not by its type, as mentioned by R.G, because the type is specified in the advice method signature already. Only if you use an unbound parameter, you need to specify its type by its (fully qualified) class name.
So in your case you have to use (credits to R.G):
