Laravel htaccess file might be misconfigured

My htaccess file in / folder is:

The page loads but javascripts and stylesheets no! when I check the http://subdomain.site.com/public/js/script.js shows me the script.js file content when I enter it in url however http://subdomain.site.com/public/js/script.js doesn't!

How can I fix it?

Try this in the root .htaccess

        RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L]

        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.+)/$
        RewriteRule ^ %1 [L,R=301]

        # Handle Front Controller...

        RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
        RewriteRule ^ index.php [L]
