Google Keep web app's onclick note expansion

I was told that I need to use ajax to do this but I have no idea how to start. I am working on the web2py framework.

First onclick, I would have to retrieve data from the notes database, as the notes are input into a form. Next, I would have to put this data into a new and improved non-writable text box which spans majority of the screen(as in Google keep)

Can someone give me some pointers on how to do this?

  • Unfortunately Google Keep has no public API for the moment. (source)

    However permissions checks are enabled on Google authentication dialog (source) thus we can expect the API to be released in the near future.
