How could i filter the listview using baseadapter


I am trying to filter the listview but getfilter method is not working,

here is the code:

@Override
public void afterTextChanged(Editable s) {
}

@Override
public void beforeTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int count, int after) {
}

@Override
public void onTextChanged(CharSequence s, int start, int before, int count) {
    mHistoryAdapter.getFilter().filter(s);   
}

i have added the method in baseadapter also

public Filter getFilter() {
    return null;
}

but its not working..could somebody help me out..@Thanks
