Why does this class, when the method onResume is called, give error NullPointerException?

The layout should be loaded first. You forget to call setContentView().

tvPoints = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvPoints);
tvRecord = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tvRecord);
