The Android Hello World app is zoomed in and blurry on my nexus 7

I am starting android development and I am following the first training guide on developer.android.com.

I created an app like this:

android create project --target <target-id> --name MyFirstApp \
--path <path-to-workspace>/MyFirstApp --activity MainActivity \
--package com.example.myfirstapp

When I install it on my nexus 7 it's all zoomed in blurry. How do I fix this?

Turns out I needed to have the supports-screens set up in my AndroidManifest.xml

                <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
            </intent-filter>
        </activity>
    </application>
</manifest>
